Wellness for Everyone- A Fitness Challenge Across Generations

Get ready to participate this June to get active, connect with others and help your community be crowned Canada’s Most Active Community and win $100,000 to support local sport and physical activity initiatives!
 
Think your generation is the MOST ACTIVE? Prove it!

Generations will compete against one another to prove which age group is the most active. Whether you’re a Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millennial, or Gen Z, everyone has a chance to shine. There are prizes for each age category and the ultimate title of “Most Active Generation” is up for grabs. Join us and show that your generation has what it takes to be the most vibrant, energetic, and unstoppable force in the community!

 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Head to your Lunenburg County YMCA and register. A binder is on-site with a page dedicated to you, and your Challenge tracker will be housed here. Busy? Don’t worry! You can keep track of your active minutes by updating your personal tracker sheet, or once a week (on FRIDAYS) by emailing: [email protected]

When: The challenge runs June 1st, with final day to submit hours on Saturday, June 29th (at 3pm)
 

WEEKLY CHALLENGES:

Complete a weekly challenge to earn extra activity minutes! 

Week 1: Strength & Endurance

  • Plank: Hold plank for 2 minutes, earn 10 extra minutes
  • Squat: Complete 50 squats in a row, earn 15 extra minutes
  • Push-Up: Perform 30 push-ups in a row, earn 30 extra mins
  • Burpees: Do 25 Burpees in a row, earn 60 extra minutes
 
Participants, you  can have a staff (membership / wellness / cleaning) member be your witness at your challenge attempt, OR you can submit a video via email, at: [email protected].
 
You can choose to perform any and all of the exercises throughout the week. Only one successful attempt allowed per person, per exercise. You can take SHORT breaks between reps to complete the challenge, but cannot break form. 
(Ex: you can “rest” in the standing position when doing squats or burpees, but must do another rep within 10 seconds or can “rest” when doing the push ups, by holding a plank. But, again, you must do another rep within 10 seconds.)
 
To track this, simply write on your tracking sheet that you completed X challenge or include it in your email.

This national initiative encourages everyone in Canada to get active throughout the month of June, ultimately recognizing Canada’s Most Active Community and awarding it with $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.

About the ParticipACTION Community Challenge presented by Novo Nordisk
The Community Challenge is a national physical activity and sport initiative that encourages everyone
in Canada to get active throughout June in search of Canada’s Most Active Community. The challenge
is open to all communities and individuals, ultimately recognizing Canada’s Most Active Community
and awarding it with $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives. In addition to the
national winner, there is also a prize for the most active community in each province and territory as
well as weekly organization prizing to be awarded throughout June.
